THE STORY

The Drawing Room Collection takes its name from a space historically devoted to leisure, creativity and thoughtful exchange. In the 18th century, the drawing room was not a place of formality, but one used for drawing, reading, needlework, collecting and conversation. It was a space shaped by handwork and reflection - and it is this atmosphere the collection draws from.

Woven through the designs is a reference to 18th-century decorative textiles, where florals were embroidered and layered with care, and where pattern carried both ornament and meaning. Each design balances looseness with intention, drawing on the rhythms of historic weaving and stitched embellishment.

The patterns reveal themselves slowly, inviting a second look. Botanical motifs - petals, thorns, fruit clusters, soft stripes and wandering organic forms - are reimagined within the world of the interior. The designs suggest what might be sketched, studied or carefully rendered in the drawing room: nature observed, translated and held in pattern.

Adam Jones turns his hand-drawn practice towards a new direction, introducing a finer, scratchier finish that lends a delicate energy to every line. The collection carries a strong sense of paperiness and texture, expressed through softened colour, chalky tones and subtle shifts in density. Colours feel gently worn and lightly absorbed, as though settled into the surface of paper, lending the designs a sense of age, restraint and quiet depth.

These patterns celebrate the pleasure of discovery - a hidden fruit among foliage, a twist of vine, a thorn tucked beneath a bloom. Rooted in the traditions of botanical illustration and historic textiles, the collection moves these references somewhere quieter, more intimate and distinctly contemporary.

FLORA

Flora is a loosely meandering trail of flowers, fruit and foliage, expressive in its movement and inspired by the abundance of 18th-century Indienne chintz.

Drawn in pen and ink from a combination of original chintz florals and stylised Indian botanical forms, the line varies constantly - some marks bold and assertive, others barely there - giving the pattern a soft, atmospheric quality. The thistle-like flower is actually an Echinacea or Coneflower, with its distinctive drooping petals and spiky raised cone centre.

SETTLE

Settle is a hand-drawn check, formed from intersecting lines that wobble and shift in density, bringing a sense of rhythm and softness to a traditionally structured pattern.

Its construction mimics the warp and weft of a hand-loomed textile, built up from grouped, yarn-like ink lines. This layered drawing technique creates a softened, worn-in appearance, closer to a lightweight cotton than a dense woven check.

MEANDER

Meander is a flowing pattern of abstracted leaves winding through a zig-zag framework, echoing the movement and playful geometry of Rococo design.

Originally inspired by the work of 18th-century textile designer Anna Maria Garthwaite, the design was gradually pared back to its essential elements - a loose, sketch-like stripe with a winding character. The pen and ink line fades in and out, softening the structure and giving it a sense of age and ease.

STITCH

Stitch is a fine vertical stripe with subtle stitched detailing, referencing the quiet utility of hand-worked domestic textiles.

The linework combines slightly irregular vertical strokes with a delicate, embroidered edge - inspired by traditional sampler stitches such as feather or fly stitch. The balance of elements emerged through repetition, refining the pattern until it sat effortlessly alongside the rest of the collection.

BOWER

Bower is a dense, all-over field of branching forms, creating a richly textured ground that feels both organic and immersive.

Drawn repeatedly in pen and ink, the pattern was refined through subtle adjustments in scale, spacing and line quality until the balance between sharpness and softness felt resolved. The result is an inky surface that reads as both detailed up close and calm from a distance.
